Two Skies, One Horizon

A guide to how you two love, talk, and grow together — written in plain language, no astrology degree required. Follow along during your reading, then keep it.

Partner One is rose  ·  Partner Two is periwinkle — that color follows each of you through the whole guide.

Welcome, travelers

Where your two skies meet

Synastry is the art of laying two birth charts over each other to see how two people fit, spark, soothe, and stretch one another. This guide turns that into something you can actually use — together. Whether you're brand new or decades in, the goal is the same: not prediction, but understanding, and a little more grace for each other.

  1. Pop your names in up top. Each of you gets a color so it's easy to tell who's who as we go.
  2. Pick your placements as we reach them. If you don't know yours yet, that's what the reading is for — fill them in as you learn them.
  3. Read each section together. Notice what rings true, and where there's a "growth edge" to lean into.
  4. Save your keepsake at the end so you can revisit it whenever you want.

The five love languages

How you each feel loved

There are five main ways people give and receive love. Most of us have one or two that matter most — and trouble often comes simply from speaking a different one than your partner hears. Take the quiz for each of you, then see how it pairs with your Venus sign below.

Venus · the planet of love

How you love

Venus shows what you find beautiful, what you value, and — most of all — how you give affection and how you most love to receive it. When two Venus styles understand each other, love feels easy. When they don't, it's usually a translation problem, not a lack of love.

New to this? Your Venus sign is simply where Venus was when you were born. You can find it on any free birth-chart site, or just ask during the reading.
Mercury · the planet of the mind

How you communicate

Mercury is how you think, process, and put things into words. So much of a relationship is just two people trying to be understood — knowing each other's Mercury style is one of the quietest superpowers a couple can have.

Why it matters for two of you: a fast, blunt talker and a slow, gentle one aren't incompatible — they just need to meet in the middle on purpose.
The aspects between you

Your connection

An "aspect" is the angle between one person's planet and another's — the conversation happening between your charts. Some flow with ease, some create a spark, some ask you to grow. Pick a pair to see what it's about, and pin the ones that matter to your keepsake.

How to read these: none are "good" or "bad." The easy ones are gifts to enjoy; the tense ones are where the relationship grows muscle. A great bond usually has both.
Moon · Mars · Sun

Your roles in the relationship

Beyond love and words, three more placements shape what each of you brings: your Moon (your emotional needs), your Mars (your drive and passion), and your Sun (your core self). Together they show how you each show up — and how you can support what the other needs.

Moon — what you need to feel safe
Mars — your drive & passion
Sun — your core self
Progressions · your love in motion

Growing together

Your birth chart is the seed you started with. Progressions show how you've each grown since — the season you're in right now. They're a beautiful way to see that love isn't fixed; it keeps evolving, and so do you.

The short version: your progressed Venus shows the current chapter in how you love, and your progressed Moon shows your emotional season (it moves about every 2½ years). Ask Risa for these — they're calculated from your birth chart.
